Chaos LC Star Josh Byrne Featured on Season 4, Ep. 6 of "Overtime"

Josh Byrne is one of the most electric lacrosse players on the planet. From his days at Hofstra to his time starring for the NLL’s Buffalo Bandits and PLL’s Chaos LC, Byrne has found himself the subject of more than a few viral lacrosse highlights.

A native of New Westminster, British Columbia, Byrne got his start in the box lacrosse game — he didn’t play field lacrosse until he was 14. He saw names like Kevin Crowley and Jordan McBride make it to the college ranks, and he was inspired to do the same.

Byrne started his college career at ASA College in New York City and then Nassau Community College, where he won NJCAA Attackman of the Year in 2015. By 2016, he joined Seth Tierney’s Hofstra men’s lacrosse program, dropping 111 points in two seasons.

Now, he’s starring in professional lacrosse, shining a light on a story that started as Byrne was born the son of a mother from Trinidad and a father from Canada. As a biracial lacrosse player, he hopes to use his platform to make this sport as welcoming as possible.

Byrne joined Paul Carcaterra on Season 4, Ep. 6 of “Overtime,” for a conversation on his life and his quick rise to lacrosse stardom. The episode will drop Wednesday morning and will be available on Apple, Spotify and wherever you get your podcasts.
